KCGM | Reagent Predictive Analytics

"The Fimiston processing plant treats more than 13 million tonnes of ore from Fimiston and Mt Charlotte. The Fimiston plant was commissioned in 1989 and has since undergone two expansions to become one of the largest milling complexes in Australia."

THE CHALLENGE

KCGM were contending with supply chain disruptions along with uncertainty around demand of reagents used in their metallurgical process. These challenges often led to refill orders either arriving too late or too soon with no room to store the delivery. This culminated in process delays and inefficiencies whilst straining the schedules of reagent vendors.

THE SOLUTION

Convergio developed the Reagent Predictive Analytics (RPA) system using PI Asset Framework. This system meticulously monitored reagent consumption patterns, forecasting the likely duration before a refill was necessary. PI Vision displayed this data, whilst proactive notifications were sent to stakeholders to flag upcoming refill needs in a timely manner.

THE RESULT

Employing the RPA system, KCGM struck a balance: they ensured a steady supply of reagents without the inefficiencies of frequent or premature orders, optimising both inventory levels and vendor satisfaction.
